I once helped Pat with these dogs. She was making a dog training video and we were supposed to show unwanted behaviors and then the corrections!
I brought a cheeseburger as an attention getting device and it took a long time to make the video because none of them would do the wrong behaviors! They lined up like ducks-in-a-row, sitting pretty with huge smiles and lifted paws!

Regarding the idea of dogs replacing alarm clocks, I had one of those once, a furry alarm clock called Alvin who, despite the four legs and a tail thing, was only slightly larger than your average boom-box. Every morning at 6:30 a.m. he would scratch and whine at my bedroom door, thus coaxing me out of dreamland with an urgency that my mom could only wonder at. She was actually quite jealous of Alvin's ability and once told me that she didn't understand why when Alvin scratched and whined at my door, I was up-and-at-'em, but she could stand there all day scratching and whining to no effect. I told her that I thought it might have something to do with that house-training thing, I was just a smidge more confident in her training than I was in Alvin's.
